In an action film, hero’s are often thrust into a series of challenges that typically include physical feats, extended fight scenes, violence and frantic chaos. Action films tend to feature a resourceful character struggling against incredible odds, which include life-threatening situations, a villain, or a pursuit which generally concludes in victory for the hero.
Camera Techniques and handheld movement is a common method used in action films to heighten the intensity and immerse the audience. Tom Antos, whos work includes ‘United We Stand’ uses these techniques during the close-quarters battles. The constant camera movements and jump cuts makes the sequences more compelling, exciting, realistic and energetic.

During the fast-paced action sequences, handheld cameras are used to immerse the audience and increase the realism. This is complimented with an up-beat soundtrack which intensifies during heated moments of battle, but softens during moments of calm.
